Today, at about 7:40 am, just a few minutes after waking up, I took a long walk to the salon to get a haircut. You see, it was meant to be a simple thing, nothing deep. But life has a way of catching you off guard.
Standing there, just while waiting for my turn, I began to realise something, it still feels like yesterday when I had to pay for a boy’s haircut, not a man’s. And I’m not even exaggerating. Just a few years ago, I could pass for a child without trying. Today? Not even as a joke. Paying children’s fees was completely off the table. There was no confusion whatsoever. That Boy is now a man, has been a man for a while now. not just in his eyes but even with everyone around. A responsible one who would be held accountable for his decisions, fully. And somehow, that realization stayed with me longer than the haircut itself.
Funny thing is, the year we only started celebrating a few days ago has already come to an end, and here I am writing about how it went for me.
When I really sit with it, 2025 has been quite the year for me, especially for someone who genuinely values growth, love, and becoming. I remember earlier making a vow, one of those yearly vows we all make like a ritual, to live more, love more, and be happy. You’d think it was just another line written with hope, but somehow, this year, it wasn’t empty.
Because truly, I lived more. I loved more. And I had a really graceful year.
I made new friends. I became bolder. I showed up differently. And you see, I don’t judge this year by just the things that happened around me, but by what happened within me. Because at the end of the day, that’s what really counts.
Somewhere along the line, I dropped a few labels. Slowly, but surely. I dropped the people-pleaser. I dropped the version of me that felt like I had to do so much just to be loved — as though love had to be earned through acts and performance. 2025 shaped me differently in that regard. It taught me that love shouldn’t feel like labour.
And on love. I’m not one to talk too much about it, either about myself or anyone else. But one thing became very clear this year: love should feel like peace and clarity, not confusion. And this doesn’t apply only to romantic love, but to friendships too.
Work-wise, 2025 was my busiest year yet. And I don’t say that lightly. As a product designer and website designer, I designed way more this year. Built more. Thought more. Shipped more — or at least tried to. And honestly, I’m genuinely happy about most of the things I built.
One of those things was Cartro — a simple tool to help small business owners generate clean, simple product fliers for their products. Especially for people selling physical products — fashion, accessories, anything with dynamic attributes. It was fun building it. Really fun. Seeing it come alive at cartro.xyz gave me a certain joy.
But if I’m being honest — and I owe myself that — there’s one thing I wasn’t proud of. I never really launched it the way I should have. I started the hype, yes, but somewhere along the line, I lacked the courage to fully shout about it. The first version was very flawed, and I was genuinely confused about whether it was even worth putting out there. I kept asking myself questions. Too many questions.
But you see, that’s what starts are for. They’re not meant to be perfect. They’re meant to exist. Maybe I should just release it already.
I also built Sprout, and I’m hoping to start selling it properly to business owners by next year. At Arete, we launched a package called Dinewell for restaurants. We haven’t made many sales yet — barely any, to be honest — but that’s okay. We’ll talk about it more. We’ll push it more. Lately, I’ve been leaning into the higher-ticket side of things, and that shift alone has changed how I see value and positioning.
And then there’s my work as a Communications and Brand Manager at Bolton White Group. Honestly, I don’t think I could ever be more proud of what we’ve built. When I joined, the branding and communications department didn’t even exist in a company of over 1,000 staff. And here I came. In less than two years, we built something solid. Something intentional. Something I’m genuinely proud of. 2025 was the year that growth was felt — raw and undeniable. I loved it. And trust me, that role took me to places I never imagined I would be. It wasn’t easy at all. Running my own studio alongside Victor, while also holding such a demanding role in a large, reputable company, stretched me. Mentally. Physically. Emotionally. But you see, building this kind of career? It’s worth it. Every long day. Every late night. Every moment of doubt. I would happily say that in the last five years of my life, I haven’t woken up a single day without knowing what to do — and for that, I am deeply grateful.
This year changed me from the inside. There were highs, and there were lows. But here’s the interesting part — in both moments, I was still the same person. Still smiling. Still hopeful. Still me. “Happy Keys,” as people like to call me. And honestly, that alone feels like a testimony.
You see, I came from really humble beginnings, and 2025 had a way of reminding me how far I’ve come. Not because of what I acquired — although I did acquire quite a bit — but because of what the year built in me. Brick by brick. Layer by layer. One thing I am absolutely proud of this year, and I don’t say this lightly, is that at the beginning of 2025, I made a quiet vow to show up more. To put myself out there.
Now, here’s the backstory. Every single time I’ve had to post something online, a photo, a video, a write-up, it took an unhealthy amount of cringe to hit “share.” I’ve never been someone who enjoys being seen like that. If I had it my way, I’d honestly just exist quietly. Build. Think. Move in silence.
But we’re in a different time and age now. An age where sharing the journey matters, especially as someone who would be a founder. And at some point, I had to ask myself why hide my process? Why hide the journey?
So I showed up.
I made reels. I shared ideas across areas I genuinely care about, tech, personal development, business, and everything in between. I posted me, videos, images, and even some of my brilliant write-ups. And trust me, none of it came easy. I still hope to do more of it, but this year was a start.
They say embarrassment is the cost of entry, and that sentence carried me through. Knowing that it’s normal to feel cringe. Normal to feel awkward. Normal to want to disappear after posting. Sometimes, I couldn’t even bring myself to go back and watch the videos.
But I posted regardless.
Regardless of how I felt. Regardless of the voice in my head. Regardless of the fear.
And honestly, that alone feels like growth.
On finances, 2025 was my highest-grossing year yet. Ironically, there wasn’t much to show for it. That was a lesson. I realised financial discipline hasn’t always been my strongest suit, and I’m glad I realised that early. Things began to change towards the end of the year when I put strong measures in place to curb splurging and unbridled charity. Because at the end of the day, it’s not how much you make — it’s how much you keep.
Faith? Oh, I really had a run this year. There were moments I cried during worship — feelings I hadn’t felt in such a long time. Some messages carried me. Some songs held me together. I listened to Rahama by Kaestrings so much I wouldn’t be surprised if he knows me personally by now. Even as I write this, the song is playing in the background. It felt like a constant cry for mercy, and I loved the vulnerability that came with it.
And you see, no year like this is ever walked alone. I’m deeply grateful for my mum — for her constant love, her prayers, and her steady presence. For always being there in ways words don’t always capture. I’m grateful for my family as a whole, for my siblings — Princess, Honor, and Florish. Having them around, knowing they’re there, meant more than they probably realise.
And then, my friends. Honestly, this year wouldn’t have been what it was without them. In no particular order — Obiora, Sekani, Leo, Praise, Asher, Covenant, Khalifire, Jessica, Somto, Idaks, Tim, Womi, Feyi, Manuel, Buchi, Obinna, Stanley, Vee, Kufre. Some showed up loudly, some quietly. Some were constant, some seasonal. But each one mattered. Each one added colour to the year.
And let’s not forget the amazing people I met this year — for the very first time — who somehow didn’t feel new for long. People like Pearl, Sally, Vee, and many other notable mentions. You know yourselves. It’s funny how life introduces strangers and, before you know it, they feel like home.
You see, friendships have a way of anchoring you, reminding you that even on the busiest days, even in the quiet battles, you’re not doing life alone.
Looking back, there were moments of fear too. Moments that shook me. Moments that reminded me how fragile life really is. But somehow, through it all, I remained me.
So here I am, at the end of 2025, lighter than I started. Wiser than before. More intentional with my love, my time, my faith, and my life.
If you read till this point, I think I owe you one. People like you inspire me to keep going. Your support and love, your care mean a lot. And I am honestly grateful for that. Feel free to reach out to me anytime.
And as I step into the new year, I do so with quiet confidence, not loud, not rushed, just grounded.
I’m entering the new year lighter, wiser, and more intentional.
Happy New Year in Advance, let’s do more.
